Break-Up
I look down at you
There, attached to my arm
Hugging it like
You never want to let go
You never want to let me go
I think of all we’ve been through
In the short time we’ve had together
Never leaving each other
Even for a moment.
You came to me
When I needed someone
Something
To stop the
Pain
Help me accept
Life
Flaws and all
And taught me
To learn from my mistakes
To move on
To keep living.
But now I must let you go
I am cured.
Healed.
Whole.
No more do I need your
Tight embrace
To protect me from the world
I know it's hard
It'll hurt us both
But I think its time, Band-Aid,
For us to separate.
