Alternate Timeline
For her eyes, that grey of cyclones gently
Prying your heart from its cage, let her go.
For the rush, the winds, that cold embrace
Stripping bare the black bones, let her go.
For her malice laugh, a sugar-sweet
Hemlock shard in your dreams, let her go.
For her prejudice, that shuts down the right
To question what this glow means, let her go.
But, God, the flowing lines! The charcoal swirls!
The past fixed in your pages, let her go.
Why does colour dance around her footsteps?
Is there pain that I have yet to know?
Leave my charcoal ways, the notebooks shredded,
Our silhouettes - forget it. Let her go!
A sea breeze ruffles through our autumn corpses.
The leaves that weren't so lucky, told you so.
The sea breeze has a name, and eyes like...(not yours.)
But I'll settle for different. 'Love'. Hello.
The dropped glance as we twine in broken corners.
Perhaps pain is magnetic. Let me go.
