My Secret
My Secret
I see you all the time.
The school play wears us out.
You notice that something’s wrong with me.
In your mind, there is no doubt.
I tell you, “Nothing”,
But you know better.
So to keep things confidential,
I write you a letter.
I started and I couldn’t stop.
They were going over the songs they were to sing
As I handed you the note and said,
“Now, you know everything.”
You’ve kept my secret to yourself
And helped me survive the play’s long hours.
You’ve held me, you’ve carried me
And still managed to keep this secret ours.
Yesterday I was exhausted
And extremely sick.
You held my hair back
After shouting instructions to Nick.
You’re my prom date
And the only one who knows the truth.
Without you here,
I don’t know what I’d do.
You’ve kept this major secret
I know that’s hard for a freshman to do,
But I thank you with all my heart
For making me put my trust in you.
