I Am An American Soldier
I am an American Soldier
I wonder when ill return home
I hear a young boy’s mother asking why we took her sons life
I see her clinging and trembling on her knees arms wrapped around her lifeless son
I want to tell her he’s going to be fine
I am an American Soldier
I pretend that seeing people around me die doesn’t affect my sleep
I feel confused, speechless, and weary
I though the trigger of my m_16 and shake
I worry I have no feelings
I cry when I see the hurt in these people’s eyes
I am an American Soldier
I understand I’m fighting for what’s wright
I say I’m proud of what I do for my country
I dream about my newborn son who I’ve never seen
I try to call home and write letters as often as I can
I hope I make my wife and son proud
I am an American Soldier
