Deer Dream
A flicker, a rustle, a noise.
My eyes go big-
I watch.
I watch not just with my eyes-
With my ears too.
A flicker, a rustle, a noise.
I turn my ears to it,
See a creature there,
Pale, tall, on two feet,
I stop and stare-
I become the trees.
It stops too,
Watches with big eyes-
A flicker, a rustle, a noise.
It moves and I dart,
I run with no direction,
Then wait-
No noise,
I stop.
A flicker, a rustle, a noise.
