Scars in her cobalt eyes.
Angel features –
beauty stained by bruises.
Knees digging into the hardwood floor,
desperation in her voice.
“Please help me.”
Older version of her
grasping her pleading hand,
gazing down at her face.
Marks of their mother’s hands.
Memories of when it was her –
never told a soul.
Ache of empathy and hurt.
Reaches out to touch her cheek,
knows in every fiber of her being –
time to speak.
