insomnia
chaotic thoughts keep me up through the night
questions with no answers continue the fight
against my heavy eyelids as they try to rest
my heart beats violently within my chest
i swallow the pills and hope to evade
the reality of life in a society decayed
my circadian disrhythm, my jealous disorder
please let me slip into sleep’s sweet stupor
a ray of gold light, the first sign of day
pierces the blinds, where i continue to lay
depleted and defeated
again, sleep i have cheated
