When I ask for nothing,
I get the sole of your shoe,
the crease in your slacks,
the curl in your hair and
the red in your ears
Given willingly and carelessly
Like a child throwing grass to the wind
(and the wind so blessedly thankful to hold it, for just a moment)
But!
Should I have the temerity
to ask for
the sole of your shoe –
I should get little else but grass in the wind.
