A shattered mould

We knew we would be friends until we’re old
In elementary we did not doubt
What we knew. Our friendship was strong like gold

We still played with dolls and nothing foretold
That our friendship would not stay strong as mould

The mould fell and met the floor crashed and rolled.

In middle, when her new friendships took hold
with friends that weren’t mine and it all played out
What we knew. Our friendship was strong like gold

Wasn’t true. You had written it in bold

That your ultimate goal was to weed out
our friendship clear and I could not withhold

But what I never said and left untold

I wish the mould had not broken so I shout

What we knew. Our friendship was strong like gold

I have learned some in life so behold
What you are sure of is not true, please doubt
I wish I had doubted our friendship: sold
What we knew. Our friendship wasn’t strong like gold

I wrote this poem about an old friend who I was incredibly close with. One day she decided she just doesn't want to be friends anymore. This probably happens to lots of girls :(
