"Writing doesn’t mean deciding to sit still all of your life and think. Ideas come from living and experiencing life, and then stepping back to think." -Shayla

All I want to do,
Is help somebody.
Hold a child’s hand,
Listen to an elderly person’s story.

All I want to do,
Is help somebody.
Give a homeless man a home,
Send a poor child to school.

All I want to do,
Is help somebody.
Hire a jobless person,
Feed a hungry woman.

All I want to do,
Is help somebody.
Bring a soldier home for Christmas,
Save a child from war in their country.

All I want to do,
Is help somebody.
Provide a poor girl with a dress.
Tell a single mother a story of hope.

All I want to do ,
Is help somebody.
And I know how to,
Yet I feel like I can’t.

All I want to do,
Is help somebody.
Make someone’s day,
In anyway I can.

All I want to do,
Is help somebody.
After that,
My life would be complete.

The author's comments:
I want people to see from this piece that it IS possible to help other people, no matter how old you are, because small actions can make a difference in someone's life.

“I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.”

Your poem, although so plain, is one of the simplest form of expression. If you read my recent poem ( I am a new member, but some are in approval), it is clad in emotions, as if, it took me forever to see one idea. This poem, is pure, straightforward, a wish on a christmas tree. There is a marked difference between fantasy and reality, well, the difference of empathy and sympathy. Your poem, is one that I feel trust for, as it started from a naive spirit, from nothing at all. Really, it's one that I would like to read on my pastime, reminding me of my own childhood! Keep on writing, shayla!
