Reminiscing
Oh, if only life were more like the time we went apple picking.
I felt like we were the only ones in the entire orchard.
I thought we could pick apples forever.
I hoped the day would never end,
And it did seem that way.
I watched as my family sprinted to each apple tree,
Expecting to find the perfect apple on each.
I listened to the joyous sounds of apple picking:
Kids shouting, apples crunching, and birds chirping.
I enjoyed sampling the many varieties.
Trying to find my favorite flavor.
I spent time with brothers, sisters, cousins and friends,
While parents followed behind carrying the treasures.
I wanted to become a bird so I could fly up,
and get the best apples on the top of the trees
Whatever happened to that innocent time,
when the afternoon lasted forever
and the orchard seemed never ending?
