Dear Self,
Where are you?
Dusty, set aside on the shelf.
Oh please, tell me what to do.

Have I forgotten who you are?
Left you there, afraid to fix your broken parts,
Left in the dark like a rusty car.
Can I jump start your precious heart?

I tell you not to change for anyone,
But it seems their voices are dominant.
Just when I think we are done,
Another ear to them I have already lent.

This is not me,
But I can not stop.
I change so destructively,
A bowl of mixed flavors with a sour cherry on top.

But the taste is melting,
Soon I will be left out too long.
The pain is bruising and welting,
Our self-confidence is all gone.

Can we be rebuilt?
Oh self, how we have been used.
Our walls are weak and starting to tilt,
Our vulnerability and insecurity has been abused.
