Listening to Silence
If she stayed,
just one extra heart beat.
I would have opened up-
as a tulip when sunshine
carries clouds away
after a tremendous thunder storm.
Rain spits. Sky lightens.
Tulips undamaged externally;
internally weeping.
No yelling this time;
only sorrow in these hazy eyes
speaking words not spoken.
For now, hand ticks,
clock hangs and time counts.
Tension- flowing imaginarily,
but seen through hydrated eyes
is a dagger cutting our hearts.
Tearing through raw innocence.
Searing.
A pain, a pulse, a memory: never fading-
Sisters by blood.
Friends by choice.
