Just Words, Alone
I thought what we had
Might have been beautiful
Instead it’s left me alone
And frustrated
Burning with the thought
of what could have been.
And too afraid of letting it end
To let it end.
So I stand here
On this unstable precipice
Tottering
Tipping
Tilting
Until I wonder
why I try to balance anymore
Alone up here
It seems it might be easier to let myself fall
But then I pretend that I have something
Something left to live for.
But my imagination won’t hold me through
Not for long
And I’m alone here
I’ve been lost for so long.
I miss my home.
I miss my friends
I miss what could have been.
All I ever wanted
Was for pretending to end.
And for beautiful reality to begin.
Was that too much to ask for?
No.
Was that truly too much to give?
Apparently so.
