MY LAST REQUEST
I crouch in my trench,
Darkness shrouding my fear,
I hear them now,
''The Huns are here''
Called my brother, at my side,
''Ready your gun Tommo, this is a dangerous ride''
I take a breath, I remember her face,
saying ''come back alive''
The trench echoed in whispered prayers
From my war-mates undying despairs,
How well I fare, in a game of life and death
deep in my mind, I wonder if it was all worth it,
losing them all to gun or grenade,
Me feeling helpless and always afraid,
If there is a God,
please answer my prayer,
Let me see them again,
Let me laugh with them there,
