Glass of wine
One day in this boy’s life,
will take you by storm.
His dad’s in the living room just watching T.V.
Mom’s in the bathroom drinking wine glass after glass.
Every night the boy sits down and prays out loud,
Oh, god. Please help me escape this place
let me leave and be free of this pain.
I need this one favor for the rest of my life.
Every other night dad’s in the bedroom threatening mom.
She just cries and dulls the pain with one more glass of wine.
When he wakes up in the morning his parents put on a show, fake smiles, fake laughter, one fake life is all he knows.
Oh, god. Please help me escape this place
let me leave and be free of this pain.
I need this one favor for the rest of my life.
This is the night his prayer is answered.
God has given him the courage
to escape this place and never turn back.
As he runs he was met by a woman in a black Chevrolet.
She asked if he needed a ride and he said.
Ten years down the road who would have guessed,
that this woman is now his one and only.
Now a man,
he’s helping kids just like him,
to be free of the horror of just one more glass of wine.
