~Luara Moncur

One day you close your eyes
Hoping time passes by,
You lie there motionless
Slowly your body begins to rest,
Without realizing you drift to sleep-
No telling what your dreams keep.
Like a little kid you dream on;
Watching butterflies fly, you see the quiet playing fawn,
You walk along the river bank-
Stop drop a pebble in the stream and then watched as it sank.
Then the 'dream' picks up its pace
As you and a young hare begin to race!
The water distracts you; looks so refreshing
So you stop. Stoop down and then begin slipping,
As you slip you let out a scream
Next thing you know you open your eyes and see it was all a dream!
Wait. Where are you?
You turn to a clock just as it strikes two,
People are around, they all look familiar-
But years older!
Realizing as you slept the time really did pass on!
That silly dream held you in a bond,
Now you regret the fact you were missing
But sometimes you can't help the fact time is just like lightning!

The author's comments:
For disappearing acts, it's hard to beat what happens to the eight hours supposedly left after eight of sleep and eight of work.
Doug Larson

This just reinforces the fact time is like 'lightning'
