The City

People rush to get to work.
They get their coffee on the corner.
Taxis drive as if they own the road.
People wait impatiently at crosswalks.
The man with the peg leg begs for change.
If change is given he just wants more.
The air is filled with a smoggy haze.
The city is moving at a thousand miles per hour.
Horns blaze as the old woman crosses the street.
Everyday apparel—suits, skirts, and shirts—is required.
This is life in the city.
