Pining After Some Boy
This boy is always pacing through my dreams
But in that realm, important though it seems
Thoughts and feelings often meet in play
In ways they wouldn’t dream of day by day
Kind and friendly, not a frightening face
In fact, a solid sight in shadows’ place
But one on which I do not dare depend
My dream love awake is but a friend
My heart may jump, and kisses I may take
But feelings must be stowed once I awake
Against survival instincts, though, some slip
Past my try for an all controlling grip
Since the genocide is incomplete
My feelings now and then come out to meet
The person to which they stubbornly cling
Who, luckily, does not suspect a thing
