I saw you in the store the other day
Our eyes met and then you looked away
When suddenly I got the urge to say
“My name’s Jacob, how ya doin’, hey.”


Unsure what to do, I looked all about
Breathing slowly- in and out, in and out
I moved closer and decided to say hello,
But then you turn to talk to some fellow


Our eyes met again- if only for an instant;
I tried to figure out what that face meant
As I stood there, thinking, away you went
And then you were gone, and that was it.


I couldn’t help but keep on wondering
My mind kept racing, thinking, pondering
But were we in fact destined to meet?
Probably not, but maybe, just maybe.

The author's comments:
True story. This actually happened to me in a Fleet Farm (those of you from North Dakota to Michigan know what that is) the other day. I guess writing this poem was the only way to get it off my mind. I really think I was supposed to talk to this girl I saw- almost like God was leading me to say something- but for whatever reason I couldn't. I could see pain in her eyes, and written all over her face- I just wish I could have done something about it.

:(  hey, it's better than any poem I have ever written!  when I was in like, 1st grade, I wrote a poem about macaroni and cheese :P  now that is a failure!

I really like this! I totally know the feeling, and let me tell you it's always best to act on that. Great poem because it captures the emotion of indecision perfectly when you're divided between what you feel strongly is right and what the social norm is. Love it. If you get a chance, I'd love your feedback on some of my poetry. Here, I Can Barely Think is a personal favorite.

I know, that's what I didn't like about it.  I like  being "Indie" if you know what I mean, and this just isn't my style.

sorry....yeah, i know the feeling of needing to say something.....I was just "over-tired" and annoyed when i said that.... 

ikr, when you are hunting you have time to think about stuff.  I even did my mail box club while I was out there.   and just being out in the center of God's creation is awesome  :)

Fine, be that way.  Go ahead, try to play it as me just wanting to talk to some girl, but I firmly believe that God told me to say something.  There are a lot of hurting people in this town, and pain was written all over this girls face.  By the way, the thing I like the most about hunting isn't the hunting, it's how close I get to God while I'm there.
