learn from your past to live for the future.

If I laugh, its lost to me

If I smile, I can't

If I speak, my words deplete

And drift away again

Because you're so far away

So far

And I won't be able to reach you

With my laugh, my smile, my words

As they deplete and creep away

Across the miles between us

They will get lost along the way

And no one will remember

My smiles, laughter, words or tears

They'll fade away into the hearts

Of the miles of desert sand

And if the clouds overhear, they will weep

Their cool tears onto the dry soil

Life again? Who knows

Not I

For if my words reach the sky

This was not their destination

For if my words do not reach you

They do not deserve to be called words

Or come from my mouth

Or bleed from my eyes as my sights straing for a glimpse

Of what the clouds shroud

And the sands devide

Where nothing survives

But the echo

Of what

Will

Never

Be

Heard

But I shall continue to laugh

And smile, and speak these words of hope

And trust that you might know

What I mean to say to you

So laugh with me

Though I will never see

And smile, your face a light the clouds will forever hide

And speak

Speak

And I will never hear your words

I will close my eyes

And know that they will never be heard

Except to make the sky shed tears

Into the hot sands

Of the world between us

Forever

Never understanding

Faithless, weak

And bound by the world

To never speak

There is still strength

Until the end

There is still hope

In us, my friend

Uncaring, tempted

Blinded, lost

We sell our minds

We know the cost

Wiill we try

In future days

To end the fight?

To mend our ways?

Hurt, belittled

Scorned, undone

Doubting daughter

Doubting son

Innocent, and

Learned in

Each respective,

Angry sin

Broken, beaten

Frightened, small

Compelled to stop

Trying at all

Scarred daughter

Maimed son

Will their lives

Remain undone?

There is never a single thing we do not choose to be. We are who we are. But we don't have to like it. Is it our fault if we don't?
