They're still princesses, all of us." -Frances Hodgeson Burnett, A Little Princess
or
1.
Live in the present, remember the past and fear not the future, for it doesn't exist and never shall. Mom
By Kyla Rich

You’re always there
You’re always protecting me
You always care
Even if I don’t see

You’re super
Juggling all that you do
You really show your power
Taking care of every issue

Though you may get frustrated with me
Just remember a few things
As I tell them to you boldly
In these small listings

Concerning my fears
Irrational they may be
They can start my tears
And they are very real to me

So indulge me
To avoid making the fears bigger
Nicely help me see
That, in my head, they are greater

With my hopes and dreams
They may be far away
And falling apart at the seams
But they may go or they may stay

Either way
Support them
Bad things, you should never say
For my dreaming, you may condemn

Be happy and excited
Show your interest
So that, in my head
I can know of your earnest

I’m at an important stage of learning
I am trying to figure out who the girl the mirror is
And where in life I’ll be going
And my focuses

So be patient with my changes
They will stop
As I have finished crossing those bridges
And the last raindrop has hit the blacktop

Yes, I keep things from you
But that is only because I am not comfortable enough to tell you the rare
Just remember this clue
When I am comfortable, I will share

And the last thing
You already know
But I thought I’d add this thing
To my list, also

Love me
Love me with all your heart and for forever
For as long as that may be
Even through the banter

Even if I do things that you don’t agree with or
Agree to
For that matter
I’m sure I will, too

Mom, I
Love you
And, on you, I rely
And my siblings do too

You’re the best mom a kid could ask for
I feel sorry for those that don’t have a mom as great as you
With love to your core
You are good and true

My other gifts to you have been pitiful
And that is being nice
Here is something that takes what I am able
To do, and keep it concise

I hope you like this poem
And how I’ve shown you my talent
Or at least some
And you look at this with no judgment

Just know that I love you
And this is the only way I that I know
To show it to
You, and to tell you that you really are my hero
Happy Mother’s Day

I love you.

The author's comments:
I wrote this as a Mothers' Day present for my mom. Sorry about the length; when I gave it to my mom my sister said to her, "Mom, Kyla wrote you a novel!"
