Found Innocence
I see the child that was lost
In a past filled with the sorrows of the world
I write of the lives lost and gone
I feel the dark shame hiding within me
All is done with death
The child gone forever

But I keep dreaming
I dream and will the dead alive
I hold onto the long life lived
And the child stays
I hear, see, and write— the sorrows
Keeping the child protected

The child is saved with a story
Brought back to a world they once lived
The sorrows—the deaths erased
Lost faces of death created again
In a world the child can stay
All is forever saved

The author's comments:
This poem is about innocence. I found that writing can bring alive anything that you have lost or have yet to find. Writing can't bring innocence back or love ones back from death. However writing can keep memories alive. To me memories are what are most important.
