Leaves
As they sat there on that cold stone bench,
And remembered all the fun that they had had,
All the time they had shared.
His had slipped into hers,
A single tear formed on her cheek.
He brushed it away with a single stroke.
They knew this was it,
There time together had ended.
Only time would heal.
Only time would tell.
There fates two separate directions.
This was it their last warm fall day spent together.
The leaves fell one by one,
As the time ticked,
Second by second.
This was last kiss they would share,
On a warm fall noon,
Then they parted.
They went their different directions.
To two separate fates,
They both turned around to get one last look.
One last look at that cold gray bench,
The leave covered ground,
And each other’s eyes.
The wounds would heal,
Their hearts would mend but,
Only time would tell.
