For You
So many years have I hidden my feelings,
Sparing yours by comforting you.
You’re not the only one to have shed tears
On whether or not you’re good enough.
And you cry and you are broken because
Of what was done to you.
But what about me?
I’m broken, too.
Because of you.
Because you’ve done the same thing to me,
Selfishly, you fail to see my misery.
For once, I want to know what it’s like
To live without self doubt.
Without my lack of confidence.
Without your judgmental words striking at me.
For all I’ve done for so long
Is wish you the best,
Drying your tears and lifting you up.
But whatever I do I can’t match up
To what’s good enough.
For you.
Nothing I do.
Is ever good enough
For you.
