You
You couldn’t even see,
That you were becoming someone I didn’t want you to be,
This new you was hurting me.
What hurts even more is that you never cared,
Leaving me helpless, alone, and scared,
Me retaliating – only if I dared.
I knew your relationship was breaking at its seam,
But it gave you no right to lower my self-esteem,
Got me so mad I wanted to scream.
I couldn’t of course with all my might,
Had to take it in, the feeling of fright,
Pretending I was alright.
The pain, damage, and all of this,
Was surely something I would’ve liked to miss,
Maybe then I’d live a life of bliss.
