And that's the thing about the future. It's unknown, unknowable, but before you know it, you're there.

When He takes me
the utmost high
will He see me boast
or see my shy?
Will I be rewarded
the Kingdom of Heaven
or parish down under
in refusing His body unleavened?
When a blistering tornado hits the highest volcano
will I sit in front of a T.V. and stare?
Or will I step up and call the people of the city
who are gentle, lost, and in need of urgent care?
When I see you slip and when I hear you cry
will I offer a hand with all hope?
Are you going to grasp it, trusting me forever,
that I am willing to help you up the slope?
I don’t know what I am doing here, alone
or why I am here this way,
but when I ask you to help me through it
please tell me that you’ll always stay.

I was amazed by the Haiti earthquake back in 2010, and also by the tsunami in Japan. Many great authors have written beautiful poems and reviews on their thoughts. This one is similar, only vague. I hope that others will get that we need to step up to the plate, help out all we can, because I believe, in the end, we all want to end up in the same place.

Well, thank you! And yeah, I guess it seems like people these days (and I'm not being hypocritical, even I do this) tend to have to think about helping people. Who is this pereson, why should I help them? So I guess we really have to go back to those old days; no one too fortunate, everyone was on a team. Thanks for the feedback :D

Thank you for writing this. It gives perspective to things that we should all do without a second thought. I loved it, and it really does make an impression in your thought process. It makes you want to help everyone out there in need, and I can completely relate to the message in this poem. Wonderful with smooth flow! Great job!

This one won a poetry publication contest. I am very proud ;] though I don't know why my better ones didn't win over this . . .
