Speed Demon
Hearts thump with anticipation
From nervousness to come
The whistle blows
And footsteps thunder
………………….
By the last lap
She was almost in second
And weariness had almost won over
Then…..it happened
Her feet struck past in a bolt of lightening
Unwillingness dropped and stretched into her legs
As if someone had flicked a switch
The motor had turned on
Those in the stand lines
Sat with zealous confusement
Because before them,
There was only her legs
Her legs racing with the wind
Senses vanished
And raced across the finish line
