You Said Forever
Why did you have to leave me?
I needed you.
You were my everything.
Why did you have to go?
It’s not the same anymore.
I’m all grown up.
Why can’t you be here for my graduation,
For my wedding,
For the birth of my first child.
You left me too soon.
I counted on you to always be there,
For a shoulder to cry on,
When life doesn’t go my way.
Or just for a hug, to say, “I love you.”
I miss you.
Do you miss me?
I think about you often.
And try to remember how you looked,
What you smelled like,
And how your love felt.
It’s not that easy anymore.
I’m slowly losing the memory of you.
Of the good times,
And the bad ones.
The memory of you loving me.
I miss your smile,
Your laugh.
I miss your face.
I miss how I thought you were going to be with me,
Forever.
But forever didn’t last very long.
