New Start
The door was open,
Out the white dove flew.
In came the black crow,
That nobody knew.
I'm the black crow,
In your perfect fantasy.
I get I've screwed up;
Messed up your family.
You threw that door open,
You set the white dove free.
You kicked out my innocence,
You made this me.
You waited until sixteen,
Then decided it's enough.
Time to get rid of me,
Because I was tough.
I wouldn't be your clay,
For you to shape and mold.
I decided to stand out;
I wouldn't be told.
I can't be you,
We're too different.
I tried to compromise,
You wouldn't have it.
Now I've left,
And you say you care.
When in reality
It's your breath of fresh air.
I'll do what you couldn't:
Accept you as you are.
It's clear no matter what I do,
I'll never be your star.
So I'll take it if you do,
It's finally done.
Next time you see me,
I will have won.
