The only me
I see this city burning
Pouring ashes at my feet
And inside all this chaos
I can only think, “defeat”
While watching russet sunsets
You spill poison in my mind
And everything is darkness
Through the veil behind my eyes
And when down I lay to sleep at night
Your face is what I see
For it would seem that, while you are
I simply cannot be
You never will amount to me
And this, you know, is true
So, my sincere apologies
But you’re stuck being you
So cross my heart and hope you die
I’m coming, fast and strong
I’ll take you from the life you stole
Put you where you belong
And when you’re off and I am free
Maybe then you will see
That I am more than just the first
I am the only me.
