The Cat
Cat’s eye, cat’s eye shining bright
In the secrecy of the night,
What immortal foe or friend,
Could dare demise thine own end?
In what sleepy nights did you,
Dare to wake and arise and who,
Ever ventured to call you defeated?
For you were a champion when first your heart beated
You, o cat, who dared to dream,
Strived and worked under the sun’s great beam,
For what reason did you aspire,
To look upon the world with ire?
O great feline, who has done you wrong?
That causes you to sing your immortal nighttime song
For what purpose do you strive,
To look upon the world and despise?
Cat’s eye, cat’s eye shining bright
In the secrecy of the night
What immortal foe or friend,
Could dare demise thine own end?
