The Devil's Wrath

I’m in the darkest place I have
seen in life so far.
But still I know darker will come,
as I stare at the steel bars.

Steel bars, cement walls, hold me here
locked up for eternity.
I know better so it’s my fault
and I ask for no pity.

My only chance to get to heaven
is if God can understand
inside there is a better man.
Not only my bad strand.

This walk, the longest I’ve taken.
That chair’s not a friend of mine.
I have never been so lonely,
I sit one final time.

The water rolls on down my face,
I don’t want this sponge bath.
Lightning strikes, my world goes dark,
and I feel the devil’s wrath.
