When I was little I was learning how to read
But now that I’m older I write my own stories.
When I was little I took ballet lessons as graceful as a swan
But now that I’m older I can play challenging tennis.
When I was little I made friends with everyone in my school
But now that I’m older I’m friends with people who have similar interests.
When I was little I teased other children in my class
But now that I’m older I’ve learned to be more respectful, like a teacher.
When I was little I had fish who were easy to care for
But now that I’m older I can take care of frantic parakeets.
When I was little I was learning how to take care of myself
But now that I‘m older I can take care of other people too.
