Elegy for my Sock

Not too long ago, you were my foot’s companion.
You were always on the left and your twin on the
right; and I secretly liked you more than righty,
because you kept my toes just a little bit warmer.

Oh, and who could forget about your material?
Just the right blend of cotton and polyester. And
your simple, yet elegant design. Turquoise, indigo,
and purple stripes; such a beautiful montage of colors.

I want to weep when I remember the wonderful
relationship you had with my knee. Never once
did you slide down to my ankle. Even, when I
was running, you stayed true to your name, and you
were my trustee Knee-High Sock.

Some days, I spend the whole night, in nostalgia, just
thinking about how warm you kept me. You somehow
managed the great feat of making me look stylish, and
keeping me from getting frostbite, at the same time!

Oh dear sock, how I loved you! Until that faithful day
when *holding back tears* I lost you. Losing you was
like losing a sole mate. Righty was no good without you,
my darling lefty. Though art misseth thee so...

This is just a sort of silly elegy poem I wrote for a school assignment last year.
