I Envy Her MAG

“I envy the challenge,” I said to her. I meant it.
Incoming weeks of fatigue. Her complaints of battery acid and blood.
Insistent questions from vultures,
Their concerned faces – masking gossip.
A year later her hair is coming in.
I said to her, “I envy your guts.”
