There’s no way to know which way to turn
When the signs aren’t so easy to discern.

His eyes are just like honey, his face like spotless suede.
He burns with an affinity for something from which he must abstain.

He smiles at you and tilts his head
Nothing about him evokes any dread.

But you feel the urge to run the other way
While something inside you makes you want to stay.

You stay because it is worth the gamble to see
Just how compassionate a vampire can be.

Turns out your trust was worth the while.
His love for you withstood the trail.

There’s no way to know which way to turn
When the signs aren’t so easy to discern.

Risks can be rewarding when taken with care.
Take the chance, but be aware.

Another day, another vampire
And your condition could be dire.

Consider deception as an intent
And anguish is something you can surely prevent.
