Second Story Dreams MAG
Tonight she has wings
Energy with blood of the
supernatural events of our childhood.
Of when she flew
When she was a wonder.
I was her sidekick
tag-a-long wonder in training
waiting for my moment.
Waiting to pulse with equal force.
Growing through the years of girl
and boy awkwardness
through cracking curiosity.
I tried on her tight superhero outfit.
It fit like a wedding band on a
swollen finger.
Nevertheless I was almost her.
I was gaining my wings
trying my hand at flight.
With suit and wings I climbed
to the second floor.
I poised my body against the windowsill
I pulled against my costume
checked my boy wings and flew
out over the windowsill
and onto the pavement below.
My superhero blood spilt onto
the hard earth.
My superhero leg was broken.
My dreams stamped
like my face onto the pavement.
Shattered like my beating boy heart
like my dreams of girl wonder
and me; a superhero duo.
