The Kiss of Autumn
A leaf finally lets go,
Of the branch that was it's home.
To be free and fall,
Onto the already colorful autumn ground.
The wind rustles through the trees,
Not a sound to be heard,
But two people.
Leaves crunching as they walk.
They both sit down,
On a wooden bench nearby.
His arm around her,
Her head on his shoulder.
He slides a few fingers under her chin,
And gently lifts her head.
They gaze into each others eyes.
Moments pass and they can't turn away,
Communicating only by thought.
He says she is beautiful.
She says she never wants him to leave her.
He stands and lifts her to her feet,
Before pulling her into his arms.
She slides her arms around his neck,
As he pulls her closer by her waist.
All is still as their lips meet.
A feeling beyond words,
So amazing,
And so short.
The smile they both had,
Could bring joy to so many.
A first kiss may be brief,
But true love lasts forever.
