Vapid
Step across the floor,
Smiling that monkey smile,
A smile of fear, and yes,
the sky is deathly dark.
I’ve got instructions, it’s true.
Move like a wind-up doll, move,
There’s still so much to do,
There’s still so much to do.
I’ll reach for the knife,
Recoil at the sight,
And the feel of the steel,
‘gainst the palm of my hand.
This is not part of the plan,
And I don’t have what it takes,
So I’ll do what I can,
With feet that lock-step,
Hands that shake, shake, shake,
So, steel back on the plate,
Throat squeezed tight,
Move like a wind-up doll,
‘Cause you don’t have what it takes,
To take that final fall.
Move like a wind-up doll, move,
There’s still so much to do.
