Let the Flowers Go
Thousands of suns set and risen
Still emotion stays the same
For the gardener still plants the seed
Tending to the budding lives
Until their bloom is full
For then his job is done and all
That remains
for him to do is watch them care
for themselves, offering bits of help
when the sky does not provide enough rain
he does not want
to let them go and still he knows
the truth
and wise he must be
to obey it because fight it he
cannot. Yes the gardener must let
his little flowers go
for daughters they may always be
but children, no.
