Frustration at Life not Having a
I have a lump in the middle of my throat
It's from the thing I have feared the most:
We're growing up, things are changing, childhood is leaving at last
Everything is moving so quickly, so fast
The future seemed like it would never come
But now it's here- we've no time left to run
So I'll grab your hand for one last time,
And I'll remember when the world used to be mine.
Run with me down by the creek's moist bed,
Where we built our forts and by berried were fed
Skip with me through the wide open fields
Where the wind on our faces was all we could feel
Dip your feet next to mine in the cool stream
And tell me again how to escape the evil queen
Re-discover the forest, paths and rocks
Re-live rolling up our pants and removing our shoes and socks
Whisper in my ear of secrets never before told
Get ourselves muddy so that we're sure to get scolded
Bask in the sun of a warm summer's day
Race me back to the house after a full day's play
Back then we had all the time in the world
And all I ever wanted was to play with you more
But all good things must come to an end
And no more days by the creek will we spend
We've traded in the queen's finest horses for used cars
And the carefree spirit for one with quite a few battle scars
I never thought time would catch up with us- but it did
And now I'm left looking back to when we were kids
The paths are over grown and our forts have been deserted
But in my heart I'll carry those beautiful years that can never be forgotten
