Painted Figures dance
across the floor
sparkles and ribbons
draped around their bodies
red and white flowers
hug my wrist
you smile, I blush
music plays,I hesitate
you assure me
I look great
I look down
at the flowers
I smile
joining the sea of figures
fading in and out
of the bright lights
as the music slows
you pull me close
I look at the flowers
which hug my wrist
beaming at their beauty
the music stops
the party's done...
...I lay in bed
staring at the flowers
wondering when you will
call
days pass
then weeks
slowly the petals
shrivel and decay
still you haven't called
I bury the flowers
in a deep coffin
there they sit
dead and shriveled
as you are to me

I think this is my favorite. I love the imagery and how you compared the dead flowers to the guy in the poem. Bravo! ZERO
