Instead of Sleeping

I’m feeding the beast,
not sleeping,
I’m peeling plastic skin,
not sleeping,
I’m heaving manufactured enthusiasm,
not even thinking of sleeping,
I’m dying in dreaming,
not sleeping,
I’m pretending not to care,
instead of sleeping.
