For I Shall be Our Rock
I need help for my heart is broken, torn to tatters by another.
Don’t worry for I have a heart to share.
But what if I weigh you down, shred your dreams and destroy your hopes.
That will be fine, for only one of us is not enough for this world.
What if I am to bleed you dry, and let both of us slowly die.
Well so be it then, if that is what you wish then feel free.
For I shall be our rock and I yearn for us to be together forever.
They awkwardly sit, reflections of the same self,
One but a half remember stains that leeches away the reasons to keep fighting.
They sit with an uncomfortable distance between the two,
The other a hopeful reflection of a future and far past,
somehow both childish and wise but unwilling to accept the full truth.
She wishes to return to what she thinks to be happy,
but this relentless attachment has now torn her to pieces.
