A Rhyme for the times
Have you seen the news today?
More people are dead.
Look at all the blood, the hate
It messes with my head.
Can we send an astroid here, please?
Give Earth a fresh new start
Look at us, we end ourselves
It’s like we don’t have heart
I am not yet old enough to vote
Nor old enough to drive
But why am I old enough to feel
So very empty inside?
Look, and you’ll see
We’re worse every time
And I’m writing this, for what?
To educate you in rhyme?
Maybe think about it
The wars and the fighting
Look back at your youth
Can’t you see they’re crying?
They sob alone in their beds
Or maybe on the floor
While daddy’s out drinking
And Momma’s speaking no more
A century ago, that was true
And we haven’t changed a bit.
Only our weapons of madness increase
We kill just when we sit
We need a change
Somewhere, anywhere
Anytime a kid gets bullied
All the world does is stare
So, as my final cry
One last breath of my youthlike hope
Please, look around you
Stop sipping your Coke
TW for the poem: Bullying, hints at depression
I just~ The world is downhill, and there's nothing I can do but write. No one listens to the kids, we're always "too young to understand."
All I'm too young to understand is why we have to be like this, so manipulative and terrible.
I needed to write it, so thank you for indulging my rhyming rant.
