Perfect
Perfect
My puppet face laced with a brilliant smile,
And I’m hoping that it looks real enough for tonight.
I open my mouth
And I speak,
But you are dictating my every word.
I hide in the corner,
As I lay on the bed
Trying to keep my posture straight
Trying to keep my breathing steady
Eyes open
Skin smooth
Remembering to talk only when told to
And then
Breaking the silence
You say to me
“You don’t need to be perfect...”
