The more I write
The less I care about
big words
witty rhymes
poetic devices
And I begin to just
Think
And then there are words
Words stripped down to
nothing, really,
Because someone
(I imagine)
once told me that poetry is self-expression
or something to that effect
and when I think about myself
I don't think about
big words
witty rhymes
poetic devices
I just think about,
Candy corn
Star Wars
My dog
Things that don't need detail
To be
Beautiful

You did a remarkable job! People get so bogged down on the words that sometimes they lose the actual meaning. The simplicity is beautiful.
