Between the departure lounge and the sky beyond
Past a crush of school children and a rushing businessman
Hand on the wallet
An Esquire in one hand
A tepid bagel in the other
The constant buzz of lights
Like electric cicadas
24 hours a day
Rush
Lull
Rush
Lull
The ebb and flow of people
Shoes tapping
Slipping and sliding across slick floors
All pushing together
In an endless sprint toward Gate C.
