Tears
Tears
She sits in the stairwell
Head in her hands
The room is cold
Like his heart
She is holding in tears
Like rusted gears grinding together on a machine
She is sick of crying
Over him
Over nothing
He is nothing to her
Like a ghost
A ghost haunting her memory
Everything reminds her of him
Eyes bluer than the sky
Voice quieter than a calm breeze
A man who was strong
And protective
She is sick of his deceiving smile
It blinds her from the truth
It reminds her of first grade
The boy stealing glances at her test
He walks down the stairs
His steps are heavy and thick
Like the air between them
He passes her
And places his hand on the cold door knob
Rusted by time
Like their love
He turns to her
Expressionless
Empty Words
Between them now
She stares at him
He stares at her
Their faces are blank
As white paper
The room is silent and dark
The tension between them builds
She looks at him and through him
There is nothing
She does not feel him anymore
He is nothing
She places her head in her hands
As she hears the door slam
